Recently I was asked why corporations should be proactive in hiring Gen Y. Here’s how I replied:

  • Youthful energy is always good
  • Gen Y does not fear the unknown as much as us old farts do.. and is more flexible when it comes to change (hey, when they were kids, their schedules were jam packed)
  • Gen Y understands technology (no big surprise here)
  • Gen Y grew up in a bigger world; Gen Y’s mindset is that the world is smaller than what other generations thought (getting from point A to point B is not a big issue)
  • Gen Y is more diverse and more important is more open to diversity
  • Gen Y seems to be very conscious and concerned about the environment so they can probably teach us a thing or two about recycling
  • Gen Y will be your sheppards to the future…..

Here’s the bottom line. Gen Y has opened my eyes to a whole new world.
