From the Desk of Bea Fields

Welcome!

I am so glad you made it here.

As you have probably guessed, I am passionate about coaching. I have been very fortunate to experience success in my life in several different careers, but when I discovered coaching, I knew I had come home. You know that feeling when a home is a perfect fit for you? That’s coaching for me. It has completely changed my life for the better.

As you can also tell from my website, I am also passionate about how our environment affects our lives. No story about me would be complete without sharing the role my environment has played in my life.

First, I love people. I have learned that having the right people around me has been so critical to my success. I was fortunate to have great parents, Turk and Anise Roberts, who provided me with amazing opportunities, including a wonderful education, twelve years of piano lessons, great travels, and a home filled with fun! I am also so very lucky to be living with four awesome people…my husband Mike, and my three kids, Ann, Katie, and Jack (and my four legged kids, Max and Rosie.) I thrive on hearing my kids laugh and play (and fight) hearing Max and Rosie go nuts when the UPS man arrives two times a week, and the laughter, great talks, and challenges that Mike and I share every day. It is life at its best!

As you get to know me better, you will also find out that I am crazy about my friends and colleagues. They really rock! You will meet many of these great folks on my Five Star Leader page, and as you and I spend time together, you will be able to spend time with them, because they are a huge part of my life. They have been so crucial to my success, and I am so grateful for their support and love.

I also am passionate about music. I can't even begin to tell you how important this is in my life. When I was 5 years old I began begging my mother to teach me to play the piano. She was an amazing musician, and she encouraged me by playing the piano and supporting me to learn to enjoy this amazing instrument. I had to wait until I was 6 ½ to take lessons because I had to be able to count and read. Let me tell you - waiting was agony. But WAY more than worth it. The piano - and music - are central parts of my life. I can't imagine not having them. It is rare that you walk into my home and not hear the piano playing or the music of artists from Beethoven to Fleetwood Mac to Diana Krall playing in the background. My day is not complete without it.

At the core of my life is a very strong belief which drives my way of living…that everyone has the ability to be wildly creative. This belief is communicated boldly in my blogging, coaching programs and articles, in my home, and in all of my relationships. I love light-filled rooms, comfortable furnishings, and a very casual and laid back way of living. I have a quirky sense of humor, and it is not unusual for me to use funny quips and observations when I lead teleclasses and programs to get you to think and to amuse myself (like discussing something important such as “Why is Midge the least purchased doll when she is supposedly Barbie’s best friend? Is it because she has freckles? As a person with freckles, I want to talk about this! I feel discriminated against!”)

I am at both ends of the spectrums with what jazzes me. Seinfeld, Will and Grace, and Doug Hall stimulate my right brain and my sense of humor and authors like Stephen Covey and John Maxwell take care of the left. It is a little tug of war between my brains, but I love this about my life. I have a very fun and wild family and circle of friends, and we are always looking for ways to be extremely curious and to push the envelope just a bit (Halloween is a big day for us, because we get to see how creative we can be. It is always fun to see how we can dress like Cousin “IT” from the Adams Family or how to create eyeballs out of doughnuts, Wedding Cookies, or cucumbers.)

I also hold deeply the belief that everyone is a leader. I have hundreds of folks in my life who follow me (my dogs Max and Rosie are my biggest followers.) I spend a great deal of time working for my community and for the profession of coaching to enhance this skill. I affectionately and lovingly support the Episcopal Day School in Southern Pines, North Carolina, on their Board of Directors, because I want this warm and wonderful K-5 school to thrive. I serve as the President of the Member to Member Leads Group in Moore County, because I am a huge supporter of building strategic alliances, and I jump in at any time to help with causes supporting funding for Leukemia Research, because it is so dear to my heart. I share this with you, because as you get to know me, I will be asking you this question “Who are you leading, and who is following you?” If together we can answer this question, I believe that we can unlock your potential for amazing success.

I want to thank you for stopping by today. I invite you to kick your shoes off, sit back and relax, and stay a while. My door is always open, and I invite you to come back again soon!

Warmly,

Bea
