Going for Your Dream
Field of Dreams...
- 'If you build it, he will come.'
- 'If you build it, they will come.'
- 'Ease his pain.'
- 'Go the distance
In the year 1989, Field of Dreams , hit the big screen with main character, Ray Kinsella (played by Kevin Costner) receiving a message from beyond the earthly realm..a magical voice whispering:
- 'If you build it, he will come.'
- 'If you build it, they will come.'
- 'Ease his pain.'
- 'Go the distance
Ray has no idea what this means, yet he continues to wake every night, looking out his bedroom window...hearing the voice, feeling the pull, knowing the fear and searching for the meaning behind the dream.
Everyone in Ray's life, including his wife and family, think he has completely lost his mind as he proceeds to turn his midwest farm into a baseball field...a field he builds at the risk of huge loss...both personal and financial. Self-doubt, humiliation, worry and anxiety are pale descriptions of the emotions Ray feels as he moves in the direction of... his field of dreams! He goes the distance and follows through with the instructions from the whisperer, and some of the greatest baseball players from history appear including Shoeless Joe Jackson, Dr. Archibald 'Moonlight' Graham, Buck Weaver, and Eddie Cicotte. Of course, Ray's dream had always been to watch a major league baseball game with his father, Johnny Kinsella, and to see him one more time...so when the announcer announced that Kinsella was up to bat, Ray knew that his dream had been fulfilled.
As a professional, have you suffered through the same trials as Ray Kinsella...you felt the pull, heard the voice, knew the fear and searched for a way to live your dreams? How many times have you come so close...only to quit and tuck your dreams away in the back part of your darkest closet? How often do you pull the dream out...just to look at it again...wondering: "Should I?...I dare not. I don't want to be laughed at...what if I fail? What if I succeed? How will I get the money if I break the bank? Dare I risk losing everything just to make this happen? What if? What if? What if?"
Today is the day...the day you get to start to live your dreams. I have provided three great tools below...one great article from Carol Dickson Carr, one from Napoleon Hill (my hero) and one from me. My challenge to you today is to get in touch with your life purpose...Why are you here? What are you all about? What is the emotion you feel when you think about living your dreams? And...What steps will you take starting today to live your dreams...to change your life? It's up to you!
It was Napoleon Hill who said: “There is one quality one must possess to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants and a burning desire to possess it.”
Wishing you a wonderful month!
Warmly,
Bea

The 10 Questions to Ask Yourself
If You Haven't Reached a Dream
By Carol Dickson-Carr
For more information visit www.managingpersonalresources.com
Following are a series of questions I needed to ask myself and find answers to over the course of my life before finally deciding to go for it. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if any of these looked familiar to you. You'll notice that many of the questions and my proposed solutions are interrelated.
1. What am I really afraid of?
Addressing this issue right here is an article all by itself! You may have heard somewhere that FEAR really stands for False Evidence Appearing Real. However, some fears are needed and rational. You wouldn't stick your hand in a burning fire place or run into oncoming traffic, for example!
But some examples of common fears that don't really serve you are: the fears of success (I'll lose my friends), of failure, of the unknown, of never having the courage to go for it, of losing your social life, and so on.
Instead of letting these fears paralyze you, write them down, and then consider confronting them and making new opportunities for yourself. Visualize the fear as the shell of a nut that needs to be cracked. Use your mental nutcracker to break the shell.

The Top 10 Strategies For Moving into Action and
For Getting Bottom Line Results
by Bea Fields
Your ability to move into action and to achieve bottom line results rests in the power of your thinking. These ten strategies will support you in transforming your desires into concrete action.
1. Expose your fears.
Fear is a gift that was given to us at birth as a means of protection and to provide us with safety from harm. This innate fear often becomes distorted, and as adults, we begin to react with anxiety, sabotage, and self-defeating behaviors. Ask yourself this question: "What is my main fear? Is it fear of rejection, commitment, loss, change, or of growing up?" Once you have identified this fear, speak it out loud to one person and write it down on paper. Once you expose your fear, it is very possible to break through its control over your life.
